Make a Wish

wedding cakeI stare at the candle,
torn between two wishes:
simply choose happiness or
being recruited by Cirque du Soleil?

Just as I was wishing I could make up my mind
the flame died…

WORD COUNT: 33

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………
trifectaThis weekend we’re asking for exactly 33 of your own words inspired by the following quote from the book you could win in the WBN giveaway. Good luck!

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” ― Paulo CoelhoAlchemis

NOTE:
As most may already know, I’ve dreamed of being a clown since I was a child. I’ve had extensive training with a major creator of the Cirque du Soleil clown program. Now that I am but a few years shy of 50 I often think about this lifelong dream of mine. Is it better to hold on to a fantasy than to risk losing it over a failure? I wonder. I am also too aware of the cultural differences from one country to the next: Americans have an utter fear of clowns.

As Paulo states – the possibility of the dream is what makes life interesting. The possibility.

Ultimately my piece leaves me with the final wish of hoping that I can make up my mind. Maybe one day it will come true and I will finally decide what I want to be when I grow up…

  1. My bigger question is “do I want to grow up”.
If you ever get the chance to sit in for a season with a circus, I hope you take it!

    1. IF I EVER HAD A CHANCE??? In a heartbeat! I would so jump on the opportunity… I even considered Clowns Without Borders – those guys are wicked cool!

I should actually say “if” rather than “when” Growing up is so overrated!

          1. Oh Marie, I’ve always wanted to be the girl on the flying trapeze. I got so far in life as to be a contestant on Wipeout, where I got to fly off more than just a trapeze…fun.

  7. Love this one, too. It’s SO much easier to just go ahead and not grow up. That way, you can still be anything when you do!

  12. do it! Run away and join the circus. And, I would not mind a clown who is a happy clown . . . for some reason I really (REALLY) dislike the harlequin type clowns. Ugh. Oh, a sad sack clown is okay, too . . . just not the evil, wicked, nasty clowns. 🙂 DO IT!!!!
