JUMP and the net will appear.
— Robin Crow

I took this a few years back. I was working with Leo. We ran a sprint car team. We spent five years zig-zagging across the country chasing summer all year round. Occasionally we had breaks between the races in choice locations. This image above was during a week of R&R in Lake Havasu City. I may have done some damage to my liver, but the other benefits from such weeks were too beneficial to worry about it (the liver.) The jumper is my husband.

When he asked me to join him and work with him – I had the sensation of jumping off a cliff. I was scared shitless, but I knew somehow a net would appear magically out of nowhere and catch me.

I miss the days where each new hotel room was my home. I miss driving through unknown cities clutching to him on our scooter as we discovered hidden gems. I miss sitting on top of the mule (hyped up golf cart with tool box, parts, tires, etc.) looking down at my dirt covered clothes and not missing office cubicles whatsoever.

Although I miss a lot of this absolutely carefree lifestyle, I wouldn’t change my current situation. Living on a boat is even more untroubled than anything else I’ve ever experienced. Minus the death gripping frightening experiences we’ve had. Of course. That goes without saying.

  1. Yeah, minus that. I love how you can’t see the body of water below him!

    1. I still don’t get the “minus that” part. Man… I’ve tried understanding it, but I’m like a monkey on crack these days!

  2. often you see what you want to see, hear what you want to hear, say what you want to say, and do what you want to do. the most important word often is YOU, AND THIS MAKES YOU HAPPY, and this is the most important aspect of life. All a mother wants is for hwer children to be happy.

  5. That is a great shot. Love it as a silhouette with the bright blue sky, and black rocks. Wonderful.

Break me off a piece of THAT, said the man in the cubicle shuffling papers and clicking on things, in the hope that it is helping animals… somewhere.
