Walls are created for protection. We build them around our homes, our towns, and our borders.
Sometimes we even build walls around our hearts. Did I say sometimes? Silly me.
But sometimes the walls of protection destroy what they were meant to protect.
The Cathare escaped to these castles for salvation. They burned inside these walls.

The LA Doll Factory – where Whip It was filmed, and where we saw every roller derby scene take place in the tv series Weeds is scheduled for destruction.
Located in the heart of Historic Filipinotown LA, investors are doing what they do best: they plan on making bank on condos and most likely another Starbucks…
Just what the world needs!
These walls hold years of roller derby history. Without the LA Derby Dolls, who knows where banked track roller derby would be today.
Hang on to your heart – it ain’t over ’til the forth and final whistle blow!

Lovely take on this week’s challenge. Love your words. You are right. We build walls around ourselves because we want to feel comfortable – we think certain comforts will make us comfortable and fulfilled. Sadly sometimes this is not so, just as you’ve written. So sad to hear the roller derby is set to be demolished to make way for fancy places…hopefully that’s not the case. You never know 🙂
